1 Corinthians 15:1-3

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures…”
One of the things God has revealed to me over the last couple years is just how central to my life the gospel is.
I don’t know where or how my understanding of the gospel started to veer off course as I grew in my faith, but for some reason I always thought that the gospel was for unbelievers and it’s thrust was redemption. Well… at least I had the redemption part right.
What I have come to realize however is that redemption is the story of our lives – not just the moment we repent from our sin and turn to Christ, but it is the song for every day after that – even into eternity.
And so our whole life needs to be about the gospel. Paul says that we stand in the gospel. It is as if we are a tree, and our roots grow down into this gospel, where we receive our daily sustenance.
Because this realization has been so invigorating to me, and since the gospel is meant to be our life song, this blog will now be centered around the good news. Truth is – no matter what God puts on my heart, or how He grows me – it is related to growing deeper in Him and strengthening my roots in the gospel.
